The First Naomi
It was Miss Simms before Miss Campbell! I don't know her face very well, so I'll have to work a bit harder for a likeness... especially underneath all that makeup!

Physique Walking Croquis 2
Another model from the same show had a great walking shot, so I downloaded it and used it as a reference. I rather like the soft feeling of the linework, even if it's very simple.

Physique Walking Croquis
I guess it's Sao Paolo Fashion Week or something? Anyhow, I saw a few poses on men walking down the runway in swimwear, so I though I'd channel one of the shots and do a croquis.

Ruin 2
Need to keep these projects in rotation otherwise I might let them lie fallow too long... image to come

James at '16, 5
I can't believe how I majorly got his features wrong. Everything was so off when I reopened this portrait. This is why I always let things sit for a few days when I'm not sure - clarity is stronger after you've walked away from a drawing.

Spring Layer 2
Gotta keep at this while I have it in my sights! Refining the line drawing but also trying to keep it much looser or more immediate than my normal...

Spring Layer
Drawing my buds' looks from last Spring Capsule show... the start of hopefully an expediently rendered series for Spring 16.
Voguing For Mugler
A friend of mine posted a video of old Thierry Mugler shows, and the models really posed and preened for the runways back then. IN some sense, what people loved about Galliano's Dior was pretty much a remnant of that era of glamazons posing and creating tableaus for the camera. So I did a quick croquis of a very 80s Mugler-ish pose.

Nene sa Barrio
I pulled up (late, as I have been designing and preoccupied) a crayon brush from my Photoshop toolbox and thought I'd draw a kid, which became a Filipino kid, which became a teenage Filipina from a small community or barrio. Although I'm not quite sure what this drawing style is - it's not quite toon, not quite realistic...

Retro Inky
These heavy inks styes always remind me of retro 60s or 70s illustrations. Must've just been what I grew up with, even if I never knew the artists' names.

Blue Lady
I picked a Photoshop brush art random and tried to draw something without erasing anything. I later succumbed and erased here and there, because some strokes were definitely mistakes (and many mistakes still remain in this drawing). But it's always a fun exercise to limit yourself somehow - you end up with interesting choices sometimes. Although this one, not so much.
Style 'Em Up 2
Funny, I had actually worked on this drawing a bit last night, but completely forgot to post it. So, this is yesterday's post, a few hours late.

The Next Big Hair Thing 2
I was pulling up old sketches to post a Flashback Friday on Instagram, and I ended up retooling this one. I can't help it sometimes - I'll look at old drawings and see how they need to be improved.

Flutterbies
I was painting watercolor butterflies today. I did a few of them, but then I realized that I can't post those until after they go out at work so I did one-stroke versions: these are naive-style drawings all done with one stroke, never leaving the surface of the canvas until each butterfly was done.

Gritty Gal
I've been exploring he rougher ink brushes Kyle has collected, and picking a brush often influences/inspired the drawing. Case in point!

Flowy
A quick fashion sketch inspired by the overisized proportions of this outfit from an Oki-ni editorial story.

Inky Hair
This face did not turn out as fun as I'd hoped, but he does look like a weirdo 70s kid (which was part of the intent, so in some ways it's successful). But I got to play some more with the Cool Drag brush for the retro-styled hair!

Cool Drag
Kyle Webster's Cool Drag brush created some great ink effects for a work project of mine so I thought I'd try a version in my own illustration work. But in a higher rez the effects are so different... might need to experiment more.

Bananaz
I'm researching hipstery foliage to add to the branding exercise I'm doing for a freelance gig. Here's my attempt at naive illustrated banana leaves. It's hard to draw in a style not your own, without practice...

Mohawk Storm
A particularly heavy new Photoshop brush made me want to do an African woman, and for contrast I wanted to add white hair, so it ended up as Storm from the X-men, in her Mohawk hairstyle.

Glam
I'm very influenced by LeRoy Neiman's Femlin character from Playboy, and those inspirations often pop up. Case in point: where this brush sketch went with the intro of gloves and a nipple.

James at '16, 4
Gonna try and keep up with the pieces I've started that need attention, in season. But this round with this face wasn't very fun - or fruitful, I think. Just laying down proportions and trying for a likeness...!

Raw Flight
I was watching a Superman cartoon clip on YouTube and I wanted to do a mid-landing/mid-flight pose for a flying superhero. I kinda like it just raw for now.
