So here's the first sketch of a potential design. It's almost like a maternity blouse, but since it's a traditional men's formal uniform in the Philippines, it's kinda fun to rethink it as casual women's wear. I dunno, I kinda like it.
This reminds me of a friend's friend who wore a barong with skinny leather pants for her graduation.
Apart from the admirable illustration, I really, really love your interpretations by experimenting with various construction details. I hope you would execute these soon. :)
Thanks Weyn. I love that you know someone who wore one with skinny leather jeans. My idea isn't so original after all, but I kinda like remixing the barong even moreso to make it more feminine and less formal. Pang daywear, 'ba?
Yes :) It was, after all, daywear back in the day. And there's a sure market here in the Philippines (and especially abroad), though I'm not so sure how the conservatives and the purists would react.
