Rainer 2

Often I find myself avoiding starting portraits because the beginning is the most fraught with frustration. You spend time sketching out a rough, then add and erase continuously as a likeness forms. But the more you get correct, the more other parts become wrong and it becomes this continuing cycle of adjustment. It's frustrating especially in the beginning because I can't get a sense that I'm getting it right until the moment when I pull back and deem it looks like the subject.
