Trying to go with the flow, I used the blocky square pastel brush in Painter and rather enjoyed blocking in the shadows in such a general manner.
Image coming when my internet is fixed. I seem unable to upload files.
Edit: found a temp fix by syncing a folder of images with my iPhone
