Nicholas's Erection

I had been working on this for a couple of days and really just got such a groove on that I finished it in record time I haven't committed to drawing really realistic penises in general, much less erect ones, but I went there with this one since the model requested we do a very erotic session. Well, he wasn't dripping like I portrayed him here, but he wanted erotic! I'm honestly channeling old sketches of mine from the 90s, but in my current style. I'm a bit conflicted because it feels less classy than my usual work, but at the same time, it's a great exercise in getting this kind of dark sexual energy out on to a canvas. Anyhow, he's watermarked to death until I release it with the rest of the planned series.

Blue Walker

I was playing with croquises and trying to develop additional techniques that might work well in Illustrator (for my students) and in the process, I started using a new palette knife brush, Palette Knife Gritty, and the outfit on this guy kept getting sharper and sharper.I really like how he turned out, but it does look like gouache more than my usual styles. This guy is a 10 head croquis only because I wanted to emphasize the long lean look of the 70s inspired outfit.

After Ruggiero

I follow a model named Ruggiero online and after going thoguh his feed and latest posts, I was inspired to do this quick line drawing. It's not a direct reference to any of his posts, just a feeling of his long arms and elegance.

Footclap 5

I do love a bit of a narrative. And this was taken from a random pose I shot of a model texting on his phone after a session.He wasn't actually naked but wearing a tee and underwear, so I extrapolated from the pose because I loved how he was sitting (the footclap being how his foot soles clap together) and then decided to toss the said tee and underwear into the drawing as well. Although I feel like it might feel less focused and more busy...

Nubia's Surprise Wig

My model drawing class's model came out of the dressing room with this gigantic squall of a wig, and after I regained my composure, I realized what fun it would be to draw (shades of Phoenix and Diana Ross!). I did a demo sketch with her and the wig, but while the class was working I did this portrait of her.

Menswear Poses 6

I needed a base fashion sketch to transform into an Illustrator sketch for a class today, and instead of drawing. new one, I just decided to pop up one of the old ones I never finished, and do a finish on him. Actually it's not too bad, but not necessarily something I'd proffer as a finished piece from me, but it's enough to digitize into vector format. So the left sketch is in Adoboe Photoshop, the middle is Photoshop but only the outline layer, and the right is a version completely redone and redrawn in vector format in Illustrator.

Footclap 4

I'm now hunting around for an image to publish on IG, from my catalog of unfinished business. And this guy from February is a perfect candidate but even this sketch feels somehow unfinished after I tweaked it a bit. So I'm tweaking his anatomy some more but I feel like his ass is unusually wide here...

Half Nude Model 5

It might not look it but I compressed all my proportions a bit on this guy. When I want to draw someone looking like a male model, i extend all their limbs and lengths to be long and lean like male models actually are. But I sometimes get lost in the exaggeration and have to pull back afterwards. This is one of those times.

Hoodie & Treasure Trail 5 (and Done, I think)

While hunting for old drawings to pose on Instagram, I came upon this oold one from Feb of 2022. Hard to believe it's over 3 years old now and I forgot all about it. But if there's anything my constant doodling is good for, it's letting old discards gain new life when you look upon them with fresh eyes...not eyes weary from trying to make it work. I think this guy's finished and good enough as is.

I finally got a lip I like! It's a bit fuller and rounded on the bottom, not my usual waspy thin lips. He's looking better, now I just need to finalize everything.

I guess this is the one I'm developing to post. I never know which pieces I'll develop—I just draw and draw different ideas and poses, until I get the momentum to finish one. This one is gaining momentum, plus I like how the face turned out.

I have a problem with the way I draw women nowadays—I tend to hark to my older strong female archetypes, maybe from my comic book days, but those aren't the type in fashion nowadays. It would behoove me to draw a sweet, girlish face. So this is what I try, in my current style.

Proportions

The current look right now for men and women includes wider legged pants (but not super wide like previously) starting from a more fitted pant's top, with a mid0though oversized jacket/coat over it.

Sorry, this is a slow development, as I'm so busy that I am only sketching between school work, and its the same drawing that I leave open in Photoshop. But I'm slowly getting a feel for the series, which is part of the problem: it's not one drawing but a series of them, so I think thinking of multiple pieces is making me procrastinate.

After Jamie

I saw a pose by Jamie Dornan from a magazine shoot, and while clothed, I thought it would be fun to extrapolate his body underneath as a nude. This is the initial rough, I'll work out teh details later.

TJ at Mark Beard's

Mark Beard is the artist who created all those beautiful homoerotic murals at Abercrombie & Fitch back in the day, and after years of thinking of going, I finally attended one of his drawing salons at his loft in midtown. I got to draw the beautiful TJ, whom I wanted to draw weeks ago at another Saturday drawing group that I missed because I overslept. With 3 3 minute poses and 2 40 minute poses, he was a lot of fun to draw, mostly because I found his face really interesting and handsome. These were the two long poses.
