Gender Fluid Reference 2
When something isn't working out, I try something else. In this case, I wondered if I should just do a simple, sketchy back view? I revisited this one that I drew based on a photo of a woman walking in her farm, where I extrapolated the male physique from her stance and out of her clothing. But I'm not sure this is the next drawing I want to post.

Black Cat Man 8
So I hid all the color layers and thought, what if I just go back to doing a black and white line sketch on a colored background? especially since time is running out to post in time for Halloween. And truth to tell I DO feel much more comfortble in a line drawing, but I'm not sure that is what this drawing wants to be... Also, I shortened his torso. I realized I made him entirely too tall.

Look Away
I needed a break from Cat Man, and I did a quick sketch hoping to turn it into...something. But I kinda got stuck with his profile because I like it as a drawing but not as...a sex object? I guess I'm saying I'm not feeling him as a person lol.

Black Cat Man 7
I realized his face was a bit to early aughts. The length of his face is something I tend to do as I love long faces personally, but I feel like he needs to have a shorter jawline to feel modern. This feels a step in the right direction. But he still looks too contemporary to me. Mind you, I'm just doing this allwithout references, so I'm making him up...

Black Cat Man 6
This was a sketch i did almost a year ago, and I thought that with Halloween coming up, I might be able to make a Halloween sketch. A couple of years back, my Halloween themed nudes were some of the highest liked pieces I ever posted on IG, but I never like doing a theme just to do it. This guy was more about a man with a pet, and I didn't bother trying to do another kind of cat since my black cats are sorta my standard SOP cats. Anyhow I tried painting in his skin more, but I'm not 100% sold on the face. i was trying to d a type of face where the guy has strong cheekbones and more narrow set eyes, but it's so not my aesthetic, I'm having trouble thinking it is done.

Laid Back 2
It's kind of amazing how much of a difference hair makes. I wasn't feeling the drawing but I had been pushing a long hairdo on the guy, but it wasn't working with teh face I drew. Fortunately a quick haircut worked! Also adjusted his shoulders and arms a bit.

Laid Back
I think I must have been inspired by typical Playgirl style poses, with only a tiny bit of penis being shown, the kind of demure photo I used to hate back in the days when Playgirl seemed like the only game in town...but which I now embrace in this world of oversharing with apps like OnlyFans and all-around free porn.

Holiday Peace 2
I liked the cat ying-yang idea, although I did a cat and dog one last year that they didn't go for, so maybe this might be too much of teh same. But it looks so Japanese-kawaii. Like I didnt draw this at all. Maybe that's why I like it.

Holiday Peace
I'm once again working on my freelance client's non-denominational Holiday Card, and she requested I focus on Peace (I wish we all would). So I sketched up a few ideas on my sketch pad that was conveniently sitting next to my desk, and I wondered why I didn't do this as much as I used to. It used to be that I was doodling all the time on any available paper...but I suppose my digital drawing make it easier to transform a doodle into a finished piece if I wanted to.

Safety Pin, Redux
I thought about reposting this old sketch I did back in (!) 2016, but I realized that—while I liked how I drew it—the mouth and teeth were too far forward for my liking in 2025. So I did some quick triage on it as well as updated her eyebrows just a smidge (and a smudge) and she looks perfect (for now)(lol).

Grimace, Done
And I think he's done. Looking back on my original sketch, I think I did overwork the sketch to the point that the original pose lost a lot of expression in the marks. But it looks fine and it's now going on Instagram so it's done anyhow.

Grimace 5
And now for his face. I had 90s go go boy Mark Allen in mind as inspiration, but he reminds me more of a former top male model whose name I can't recall right now...

Grimace 4
And yet another update on this guy, this time, I completely shortened his body. I realized I drew his torso too long for the slouch I had imagined.

Grimace 3
I know I'm determined to post this drawing next so I keep working on it. Although I fear I might overwork it so I'm trying to go bit by bit.

Sketch Solutions
Today in class I was consulting with all my students about their final projects, and many specifically about how to draw/render some of the poses and garments that they were trying to sketch out. These were some of my mini demos for them.

Posing While Waiting
My desktop has been acting up a lot lately, and while waiting for it to reboot I tried drawing a new croquis on the pad I had next to me on my desk. It's a bit off but I can retouch it in Photoshop...

Grimace 2
I painted him in roughly, which I may keep as the final rendering style. But I think he's looking too tall and needs to slump more...

Grimace
I wanted to do this very specific pose, with this very specific expression. I realized afterthe fact that it's a combination of several images that I have conflated in my head: two separate shots of former top gogo boy Mark Allen, sitting this way in one shot, grimacing with a boot on his head on the other; and of Madonna, I think, sitting similarly or at least leaning, with her hands in her armpits while smoking. I think?

Student Works 4
I spoke with my former student while on campus and asked his permission to draw/post this, so I'm retooling it to make sure it's ready for its closeup.

Nick Turning 2
I wanted to post this on Instagram but I wanted to remove all traces of the gloves. But I realize it's lacking a bit of detail and I don't know if I know anatomy enough to properly fill this view of his arms in.

Submission, 3
I'm wondering whether or not I need to restraining stock/contraption I originally designed into the sketch. This is me experimenting with a possible technique to put it in.

Reclining Nude On His Phone, Also 2
Whenever I sketch a new pose—whether with or without a reference—I always do the quick rudimentary marks just to put things down. I find my process (and I think it might be more common than just me) involves wantiing to edit something that's incorrect. So putting down anything breaks the ice, so to speak. It basically allows one to get started. Too often we artists are daunted by putting down something that's wrong. But often, that results in not starting at all, and being paralyzed by it. For me, starting wrong is a road to correcting the piece. This is a piece I've been correcting (and will still continue to do so, as it;s not great yet). Also ysing the new Tracker brush I discovered, to see if it gets the inky line I'm imagining I need to work with.

Submission, 2
I finally got around to fleshing out this new piece from the fetish series I've been working on ever since I met my new muse, Nicholas. I guess he IS a muse if I keep coming up with new ideas based on him! Anyhow, he doesn't shy away from the very erotic, so this was all about the focus on his nethers, in a way that was as realistically provocative as possible (within my style, of course).

Haider Ackerman for Tom Ford SS26 2
I decided to redo the sketch after thinking, this was the wrong technique. And I'm glad I did! I trotted out the Vine Charcoal brush and traced over my own sketch. I am always afraid of redoing stuff because I often find my marks precious—like I think, oh, this is an idea mark here and I can never reproduce it well enough to be better. But I think this proves it's okay, and it's a much softer feel that looks more like a classic Antonio sketch line, so I'm happy with it. Now to paint!

Haider Ackerman for Tom Ford SS26
I loved the collection Haider did for his sophomoric outing as CD of Tom Ford, and I was inspired to draw one look and try and capture the feeling of teh model kind of slinking out in this glittery coat. But the technique I've been using for my menswear linework just really looks too harsh, and I'm not loving the line quality. Will have to rethink this, although the attitude is there...

Sideview, Done
For good or ill I completed the hands and arms on this figure, and it's done now. Here's hoping it doesn't get censored on IG...
