For The Good of X 4

This is coming along nicely... although I feel like he needs a compelling show of penis root to make it especially thirsty.

For The Good of X 3

It's been almost a year since I last touched Ben's drawings (it's been really busy too so I can justify it in my head) but suddenly getting teh urge to discard all my other projects (and they be legion!) and do him tonight.

Rough Poses

Arranging a model session with a guy I met online, so I made a few sample sketches of what poses I might ask him to get into. Sometimes I think I'll follow through on these sketchs wiht a model, but I wonder sometimes if the gesture I get from my imagination is better in a way for the flow of the form...

Old Dog, New Styling

I passed by a vendor on the way to the subway station today, and he was wearing 4 layers that I thought were so quirky that they would be great on a younger, fashion model: a turtleneck with a striped woven shirt over it, with a collared knit shirt over that, and a blazer. It's funny, on an older guy with humble pieces, it's quirky to the point of tacky. But transpose the exact same thing on a young model, and it's suddenly edgy and ironic.

Sketch Booked 3

I might make this a regular thing, although perhaps I should choose a different medium from ballpoint pens.

Big Silhouette

I was distracted all evening (all day, actually) and didn't get this sketch done in time to post. So this is for yesterday, because despite doing so many sketches on Sunday, I can't count them for today...

Sketch Booked 2

More sketches from my day in Hudson.

I tried sketching a house bu I really have no interest in it. Still, it adds some contrast and context to the other sketches...

Sketch Booked

I took a sketchbook up to Hudson and drew on the train.

Grayboy

This sketch started out as an idea (that I still have clearly in my head) that changed the minute I started drawing features on the skintone background. As always, I sketch each line as a reaction to the previously laid down line. If I trust my abilities, I usually work with what shows up that I like, as opposed to trying to shoehorn the original idea.

Darren

Back in the 90s, one of my first personal trainers was a man I later befriended. He also posed for me for a drawing I never got to finish. I had him in this rather awkward seated pose that I'm not quite sure how I got him to stay in it, but he did enough for me to get this drawing. It was during a phase when I wanted to do large sexy male angel paintings (it was such a thing in the 90s). Anyhow I dug it up to post for Darren as well as to do a throwback Thursday thing in Instagram, but I wondered about sketching in the missing wings that I never resolved...

Busted 10

Trying to cheat on properly rendering all those links just leads to a bad rendering, and the rest of the drawing shouldn't be tainted by my laziness, so...ugh... I did them more carefully (although not perfectly. I don't have the patience for it since its a freebie)

Busted 9

Ugh, drawing individual chain links!  Blerghk.

Busted 8

Now I'm just drawing all the jewelry this display bust is supposed to present. And we have a nose ring, folks (one which even I can wear should I choose, actually)

Back Once More

I think this sketch is finished. It wasn't feeling right where I left it, so I simplified it and just made it about the big pants. Which indeed it is, although I like the juxtaposition of ink in the way it's painted, with the ink on his body. Maybe I should have called it Inky.

Dancing Kitty

My friend Justin asked me to draw an update on my Kitty's Kostume Korner drawing from over 30 years ago, and I haven't gotten to it til now. But I seem to fall asleep at my desk a lot, so this rough is all I can manage right now.

Druuuunk

Does this look like a tipsy sway?

I got so drunk yesterday because there was a Spring mixer at work, and we were drinking (cheap) white wine, then I went out to dinner with my boss for even more wine! So while I drew this yesterday, I didn't bother to upload it. How could I? I was plastered, haha. Wine always hits me hard...

Muytjens

The J.Crew menswear director has just parted ways with the company he so ably repped for these past several years, so there were a lot of articles on his leaving. I thought I'd do a caricature of him since it was so clear n my head how to do him.

Sleepyhead

I don't understand why but it's two hours before I normally sleep, and I was falling asleep—hard!—while trying to draw this. So, Sleepyhead is the title.

Crouchy 3

Just trying to figure out this pose without an actual reference...

Busted 7

Not the best rendering for the pendant, but It's weird now that I've done the figure, to realize that teh technique (crosshatching) won't really work for the featured jewelry that the bust was drawn for!  Ah well, regroup...

Busted 6

It's actual drawing and working on the image, but you won't actually get a sense of it from the sketch versus previously, but anyhow, here it is.

Friday, April 21, 2017

Crouchy 2

While trying to refine the pose, I kept on reworking the face which is starting to look much nicer, I must say.

Thursday, April 20, 2017

Crouchy

I saw a pic on Instagram the other day of a guy grouching, and it occurred to me I might want to learn how to draw that pose. Well, I did save the reference pic, but I didn't even look at it to draw this one, just relied on memory, as well as adjusting the pose based on how I place one element after the other.

Edward

Drew the beautiful model Edward at tonight's Queer Salon. He was very model-y, with his deep-set eyes and slightly upturned nose and mouth corners.

Inky Rude Boy

I love a guy who's spread-eagled. Hehe.

Inky Street Scene

This ink brush just keeps on inspiring me to be much looser with my sketches, and to allow for more abstract forms.

Happy Bunny Day

I actually posted this on Instagram on Easter Sunday, and I think I spent so much time getting it ready for there that I totally forgot to post it yesterday. So this is Easter Sunday's (less religious, somewhat inappropriate) drawing.

Inky 2

I kept drawing and sketching in that ink stye borne of the chosen ink brush. It's rather fun. There's a freedom and immediacy it kinda demands.

Friday, April 14, 2017

Inky

I picked out a brush from Kyle’s Inkbox and started sketching, and  the American Comics Inker brush kinda determined what I did based on the strokes. Always fun to draw in a style you didn't know you had, but media can do that.

Thursday, April 13, 2017

Busted 5

I finally got direction on which jewelry to place, so I'm drawing them in. There's bound to be a level of stylisation in the renderings, but I'll figure it out.

Ripe For The Picking

I found a new clothing resource that isn't very popular, but after receiving an order of three items and liking every singe one (as opposed to returning entire orders like I have been lately), I'm quite surprised and stoked... and trying not to buy everything!

Tuesday, April 11, 2017

Busted 4

After months I am finally finishing up this sketch for the 'client' (quotes mine since it's a freebie job). Starting out by laying down the foundations of some of the jewelry I have to render on this form.

Ripped Michael

Went to another Drawing new York session tonight, specifically for the mode Michael, who was said to have a phenomenally ripped phsysique—and the rumors were true! Sadly, I was having an off night and did not get the kinds of drawings I thought I would.

White Shirtless

Never mind that I have a gaxillion unfinished drawings I need to resolve, but if I get an idea in my head, I can at least sketch it out as a rough before adding it to my pile of To Dos, right?

Current Mood 11.10.16 part 5

Funny how a few weeks without opening the file, everything looks wrong. I suppose time off is always good, hindsight is 20/20 after all. Rejiggering this guy...

Bright Walkers

Just figuring out croquis, and the right contraposto for a walking figure.

Wednesday, April 5, 2017

Yellow Ear 5

I really do need to get this done... plus it nearly is anyhow, methinks. I just need to feel it's done.

Blue & Black 2

Funny how a drawing evolves. His face seemed to indicate some sort of edgy stare, so I figured he needed something edgy to wear to go with his hair., i.e. heels, cropped straight legs and a leather apron. We'll see if I even finish this sketch.

Monday, April 3, 2017

Blue & Black

I'm rather into this shade of blue I've been using as 'ink' for the last three days. For whatever reason, it evokes a different kind of feeling in me when I draw with it, as opposed to simple black. That said, all I've done so far is doodle with it, so we'll see...

Bopper

There's a model making the rounds of the top ecomm websites, and she's got a look that part Jennifer Beals in Flashdance, approachable but young edgy. I started out drawing the villainess Selene from the X-men, but somehow ended up drawing this girl because she's my favorite model on the Shopbop site I've been working on.

Legion (Blue)

Looking forward to seeing the finale of Legion's first season. it's a great quirky show that doesn't necessarily really evoke the original comic book character, but it's damn enjoyable in and of itself. Although Dan Stevens—appealing as he is—lacks David Haller's signature brush cut.
