Yogabod

I got to drew a yoga instructor who has quite the tight body, and being very tall, really long lean proportions.

Random Face 2

I thought the last version looked too loose and generic. This one is kind of all American, but with Timothy Chalamet hair (or at least what I think it looks like—I didn't have a photo when I drew this).

Random Face

Just a quick doodle of someone boyish.

Catwalks

My friend Mel Odom posted on Facebook that his work was on the runways of Qasimi in the London menswear shows, which I hadn't realized were on. I'm really out of it. Anyhow, thought I'd do some sketches based on fave looks, but since I haven't reviewed everything yet, I figured I'd do some croquis and fill in the clothing later.

Bigfoots 2

Ugh, I couldn't leave well enough alone and I had to draw the entire figure that the crop represented. It started out with me just trying to figure out why the legs would be posed the way they were, by drawing the full legs, then the ass, then the torso, and pretty soon, I had to draw the whole guy. And now I'll be wanting to figure out the best pose for this whole figure, lol. His head and arms might still change. And for that matter, the whole outfit...

Edit: Yup, added more variations:

Bigfoots

I have been avoiding the ugly sneaker trend for a while, mostly because I don't like how the shoes look on me, or for that matter, on most people. And they've been getting bigger and more clunky, and its a weird channeling of the big monster shoes of the 90s, but it was never this designer-y nor prevalent as it was back then. So when I finally bought a pair I could wear (Raf Osweegos) I could finally get into the trend a bit more, from experience.

This was an image I had for a while now, just focusing on the ugly sneakers, some variation thereof that I will just make up myself.

Phoney

Drawing people sitting down, leaning against walls, or whatever pose while looking into heir phones is relevant now, so here's one that popped into my head.

Polo Shirt

Happy New Year! I couldn't decide what to make as my first drawing of the year, so whatever came out came out as a result of doodling with this gouache brush. I had actually drawn more parts of this image's body but erased it in favor of a more minimalist look.

Sneer 13

And so my last drawing for 2018 is this ongoing  painting, stage 13 at this point, of my friend Ernesto. Here's to finishing this early in 2019!

Making A Scene

I started with a guy looking into the distance while he zipped up his pants then I decided o give him something to be looking at. This could be one of those Tom of Finland style scenarios.

Sneer 12

I would love to finish this in 2018 so I'm working on it.

Stumble

I came upon this pic of model Harry Goodwin on Instagram, and I loved the attitude of the image so much, I tried to capture it from memory (well, after a couple of glances at it) to portray its very spontaneous, "I'm-sorta-dancing-drunk" feel to it. The photo still did a better job, but I don't mind this drawing. The face turned out okay considering it's not taken directly from the photo.

Leaps

I was watching Top Chef on my ipad, so I picked up the nearest sheet of paper and a pen and started doodling these leaping figures. Bad anatomy.

Coupling

I was doodling and decided to try and draw an interacting couple, not always as easy as a single figure. But I do like the laughing guy on the left. The one on the right needs a bit more love...

Look Over Your Shoulder 2

This was definitely a piece that pretty much finished itself, it just came to life spontaneously. But even when that happens its always nice to take a beat to let it rest and come back to it a bit later and correct any minor details. I fixed up the shading as well as things like the ear folds.

Here Kitty, Kitty

I decided to draw my local comic book guy a Kitty in her current costume (well, with some minor modifications—hate the belt in this one) as a Christmas present. It was both fun and weird to draw a comic book character on paper—it felt familiar AND foreign because I haven't drawn this kind of extemporaneous sketch on paper in years. But I don't think I did too badly. I even knew that I didn't have enough space after sketching out her head so I changed the angle to fit, and it turned out okay methinks. Bad photo, though, but I forgot to take a better one before I gave it to Kyle.

Look Over Your Shoulder

This one was a spontaneous, continuous experiment that worked out nicely, I think. ALthough I feel like I've seen it before.

Train Face

I tried to sketch a face while waiting on the subway platform for the F train on my way to Soho today, to buy my friend Rainer's Christmas present. I started the face out then did a lot more on the phone at home. All the lighter green elements were done on the phone with my fingers, while the darker green tones were elements and adjustments I made in Photoshop later.

Walking Away

I saw a guy in the subway station, up ahead of me on the floor between trains, and I liked his proportions in his outfit. I didn't quite capture the outerwear, but he had a nice oversized jacket over cropped black pants.
