Angles

The silhouette piece made me think of other angles I could draw, but this one is pretty much something I feel I've already done before. I explored it a bit but I don't know if it's worth developing.

Sexy Side Eye

I saw a pose online that I liked, but had to extrapolate it a different way, shifting the direction and changing the guys face.It's always interesting constructing a face, and seeing what forms, but then tweaking to see what other kinds of faces form. It's really not as intentional as one might think, more like happenstance that you learn to direct and edit as it goes along...

Nurse On The Side

I went to get my flu shot today and the one of the nurses was facing away from me, and I got to study his silhouette from the side.

Silhouette, Also

The hairy guy I drew the other day was a quicker drawing to finish, but the actual pose I think I saw in my head was more akin to this twisting guy, who took a lot of figuring out and pose references to validate the musculature I initially drew without references.

Coat Shoulder

I based this guy off of a face on Instagram, where teh angle of the head and shoulder determined everything. I wasn't too happy with how the coat and body turned out, but it's good for now.

Silhouette

Its funny the things one sees in their mind's eye. I was browsing Instagram and spied the artwork in the background of this image: https://www.instagram.com/p/Bp6-KCuAhBJ/ but I imagined my subsequent drawing up there instead. Need to fix that lat though—kinda wonky anatomically.

Hairy

I had a vision of drawing another hair-centric drawing, this time with full beard and long hair, but didn't end up liking the face of the guy I drew so I kinda stopped.

(Not) Two

I started fleshing out the two figures form yesterday and thought I liked how the one on the left was developing, so I decided to continue drawing him alone. I still intend on putting the other guy in the frame but I wonder if I should have two versions, both with and without? I could always do them in separate layers, but that's not quite a duo now, is it?

I realize I haven't actually drawn a duo in a while, so I imeediately sized upon a pose in my head. This is the initial layout.

Sprawl

I was inspired by images I saw in the magazine store over the weekend, but as the days drew on, I could barely remember the pose that had popped into my head, for drawing later. This is the image i think I wanted, but it's not inspiring me the way I recall I was several days ago.

FoneFace

I drew this while waiting on the train. I didn't have time to finish her before I got to my destination, but I think the 'bones' of the illustration are good and worth developing later.

Pencilled

I had downloaded a digital pencil brush from online and I was pretty meh about it when I tried it, so I switched to the Vine Charcoal Detail brush instead, which to me looks more like my hand when I draw with graphite.

Years ago I spent Thanksgiving over at a friend's place in Harlem, and he said that if I ever wanted to give him any artwork, he would hang it up in his home. Well, I wasn't sure what of my ouvre could be relevant because he's not gay, so nudes of any kind might have been off for a family man. So I kept that in the back of my mind for years. Today I did his portrait in a live sitting, many years after that T-day.

Green Spots

I had the vision of a beautiful African model with violet-black skin accented by fluorescent green spots on her lids and nipples. With the right colors it could be fun.

Off Balance

I saw a pose in a website (Zara maybe) where the model was standing yet somehow off. I liked it so I downloaded the image as a reference but didn't actually look at it when I drew this.

Just a naive little sketch of a paper crane for an invitation I was designing tonight.

Inkt

I was hoping to just get a sketch I liked, and I did, and am developing it in what keeps coming back as a technique of mine, albeit in evolving forms. Using very flat colors and silhouettes coupled with slightly more detailed linework (in this case, brushwork). I should try and draw more than just the faces. Although I kinda like the simple brush sketch alone too, maybe nor with that hair.

The view I drew looked like a guy pulling a bow, so I tried to make it that.

Hickster 2

Hipster with a retro-glam hairdo? Or hick with a mullet? You decide.

Hickster

I was shopping the other day at DSM and noted one of the male sales associate's hairstyle. It was basically a mullet, but at his age, it felt fresh. But to older yes, it's another mullet. I thought of channeling that freshness, but quickly aborted this sketch.
