I finalized him and uploaded him to Instagram, where I wrote:
Summer’s here, time to break out the shades and shed some clothing. 🙂
My
original inspiration came from a post about a brochure full of color
field graphics, which gave me the idea to do flat color planes as
backgrounds / simplified situational props, with male figures positioned
on/around them (hence what this guy is leaning on). But with the
heavier Charcoal Pencil brush I was using and the flat colors I
originally applied to the figure, it started evolving into a more
layered serigraph-like style that I'm not 100% sure about, but I guess I
ran with it. It's an amalgam of comics, anime, Patrick Nagel, Playgirl
layouts and whatever else live in my lifetime of art influences.
I'm
happy about the arm foreshortening, though it's definitely something I'm
still trying to perfect.
