It's hard for me to decide when a pet portrait looks right. I think the features of a cat or dog are so subjective when viewed from an owner's eyes, that to draw one means I have to draw on what the owner views as the definitive look of his companion. So I went full literal with my portrait of this pup, and the client wanted me to take more liberties. So here's the 'rejected' view.
