Overview

I got a few strong overhead pose ideas from browsing various reels and photos  that I have now promptly forgotten. But this bird's eye view is difficult because of the foreshortening, especially since I'm doing it from imagination.

The Sub View 2

I'm just doodling without purpose, hoping a sketch will speak to me enough for me to finish it... and this guy is not speaking to me yet. Fixing his anatomy is one thing but that face is not inspiring me at all....

The Sub View

In a sexual situation with a man, this would be the view of someone kneeling before him. You can imagine what happens next.

Poesie 2

I refined the face a bit. I'm always about building faces, and it's strange to think that at some points I think I had improved and was doing a great job, but to see the work years later and think, ew! What was I thinking? Always a work in progress.

Poesie

I started with the Vine Charcoal brush which always makes me go for the line, and doing a profile, it ended up feeling very Cocteau in my mind, even if my lines are too defined and structured comparatively. But the influence is there in my head!

My favorite part is how I start from the inner bicep and flow in one line all the way around to form the hand. It's like tracing the anatomy with my pencil, and I wish I did more of that and left it t that instead of refining it out. I also am happy I do it at all!

Pistachio 3

I was wondering if this rather expressive guy is too cheesy in this pose. Extreme poses look great on models since the model can sell it in photography, but I guess as the illustator (and doing this all from imagination) I am both model and photographer! I was wondering if I can repurpose this pose for the pattern-layered idea I had a few days earlier, and maybe use it as part of a series. But the pose as iss looks a bit too..."posed"? It's the arch and leg that makes it too much for me—although the left hand might actually be the culprit haha. Hmm, need to investigate further how I resolve this.

Robbie in Green

A former acquaintance who moved away then came back to NY showed up at my gym a few months back. And he's been working out more so we talked about him posing. This is a pose I thought of for him.

Trainman 3

I was sifting through old sketches looking for something to finalize, and I liked how this face looked, although he definitely needed retooling. This sketch was from 2023! I'm liking the expression more, but he's less fashion model versus tv actor.

Inspired 2

Did a pose and layout more to the image in my head. I dunno why it still looks like my model Nicholas, I seem to be drawing him subconsciously now!

Inspired

I saw my friend Ernesto's old photo that he reposted, and this time he tagged the photographer, whose work I finally inspected and actually liked (or maybe I saw his old work and didn't respond to it then, but now there was stuff I got into). Then I saw other models he photographed, and one of them turned out to be an amazing interior decorator, with a very lush aesthetic that inspired me to revisit a patterned sketch Idea I conceived of but never realized into a full sketch. But I also so some framed sketches in some of the interior designer's posts that looked like the kind of black and white ink sketches I've been trying to make over the past three days. So it all came together and I'm making this pose in hopes of fleshing it out into the inspiration I have in my head right now...

Badass Brush Sketch 3

I decided to post this as a sketch for my Facebook Fashion Illustrator group's First Friday event, where we post our own sketches to the group. I altered it a bit to be the first outfit from the recent Victor & Rolf SS27 Couture show. It was very similar so it was an easy pivot.

Badass Brush Face

Still playing with this brush again, which I used to love but my style has changed (hopefully improved) so I'm curious is I'll change how I use it. So far I'm going for a more calligraphic feel, as one commentor posted in a post I made on Facebook (yes, I'm old and still post on Facebook)...

Badass Brush Sketch 2

I did a quick color on it and maybe not as good as I thought. But still, a good exercise.

Badass Brush Sketch

This was a very quick fashion sketch using the Badass Brush KTW (I think the KTW stands for the author, Kyle T. Webster) which is different from teh regular Badass Brush apparently, but I'm not sure how. Anyhow, this was a very quick sketch that reminded meof how my mom would sketch out her designs on short pieces of newsprint. I wouyld if I get the immediacy of my lines form her, aping herquick sketches? She was always so definitive about her sketches.

Inky Sketch

I found an old 1950s cartoon ink sketch that i felt inspired by so I wanted to use the techniques in a fashion sketch. This wasn't quite what I wanted to do so maybe not use this particular brush and try again.

Possibilities, Too

While on the exploratory tangent, I found a pic of a clothed fashion model, and I liked the pose and wanted to see what it would look like naked. And here it is, although I think I might need reference shots to make it more accurate.

Nicholas Redux

I went to the center to draw and meet up with Nicholas again, after we've not had a chance to meet up in over a month. It was a good session, I think the room and his poses were great, although I wish I was a little more on my game. I think I was a bit guarded. But I like the results anyhow.

John dlS

I got to meet and draw a new model today, John. We'd been chatting a bit on Instagram about him modelling, so this was a test of sorts. The funny thing is we connected more on a personal level, so we might make plans just to hang.

Possibilities

I've been sketching up a storm, trying to make something as my next IG post, but I realize the folly in tat because it's me not making art for my art, but me trying to create content. And it's a battle I realize I've lost more than a bit, even if the need for content has spurred my art a lot over the last 14 years. Anyhow, this guy is one of several different sketches I was working on, trying in one PSD file that I named possibilities...

Brushed Charcoal Test 2

It's kind of a good thing I decided to do this—it's allowing me to make my mistakes in the study as well as correct anything, before I commit to charcoal. Plus it's making me appreciate the smoothness necessary in the render to get that latex effect. SO now she has only one foot showing, and it needs to be further back behind her knee...
