I was finally able to retrieve some files from my groaning old iMac to draw for my own sake versus just for work. Maybe this guy finally gets finished, as I posed for some reference shots for the hands which have been my focus on this piece.

That New Computer Smell...

I'm still getting used to my new iMac, ugh I hate this unsettled feeling.

So I got my new iMac up and running enough to finish this job, but I dunno how I'm going to sort out my storage situation, as I had to settle for an iMac that has half the storage space as my old one...

Accidentally turning off some layers left me with a coloring style I don't ever do, but really like here in one of my figures from this project.

This was a crazy time in this project. My iMac has been failing so I had to rush out and get it diagnosed, in the middle of my project! I hope I can make it in time, otherwise I think this client will hate me forever! Ugh, Murphy's Law...

Analog Interlude

I'm drawing like a madman on my new iMac while still trying to port over old files for my own not-work sketches. I thought I;d do a pencil sketch on my notebook but I'm honestly not feeling it right now— too much tumult with getting this new Mac sorted.

Since these are presentation illos, I have to hem closely to what the clients are hoping to show. Lots of guesswork for me mostly because I don't know if I've established my own style enough to say, you want ME. lol

I really love focusing on the faces, but I seem to settle on 'sweet' looking girls overall. I think it's my New Yorker training under my mom.

I got another commission from my returning client, so I'm thrilled but also trepidatious because it's a rush project due in less than a week! But these are some of the initial roughs I presented to show the outfits. Women's again, woohoo!

Vortex

I don't know how this brush got its name but I'm neither keen on it nor its effects, but that's why we test them out.

Pigmentia

 Testing out some of Kyle Webster's Fall 2021 brushes, this one called Pigmentia. Hmm. Meh.

Sensitive

My new tablet is taking some getting used to, as it is changing how some of my favorite brushes handle. There's a lot more subtlety to the Ruffin Brush, for example, and it's vastly different from how I drew with it before.

Expressink Writing

I wasn't able to draw on my computer yesterday because my Intuous 3 pen died after a misguided attempt to disinfect it frazzled its circuits. But it was something I'd used since 2008 so it was time to get a new one. So now, on November 2, I'm posting a makeup sketch for November 1 now that I have over 4000 levels of sensitivity in my new Wacom tablet, and I'm testing out the on the ink pens that I didn't find very impressive the first time, The Expressink. Wow, it really works for typography, it seems. The sketch on the left isn't much compared to teh ragged strokes on the calligraphy beside it.

Headtilt 3

I pulled out an old abandoned sketch from 2018 to try and rework, as there was some potential in it. But so much to correct! Its amazing how quickly my sensibilities change in 3 years.

Caturday

That new ink brush just isn't easy to work with even if I think it should be so smooth that it's, ahem, smooth sailing. But I'm not impressed much so far. Here's another cat I tried to do with it, but meh.

Ear Thingies

When Dave Cockrum designed Phantom Girl's then-new look in the 70s, he had her wearing barrettes in her hair. I'm not sure I can get behind them just as a typical hair clip, so I'm trying to design something in keeping with some of the old elements, like taking off on the metallic globe thingies on her belt and putting similar pieces on her ears...

Doodley

I have not been feeling much like drawing lately, so for today this terrible doodle I made in my notebook is today's official but unsatisfying entry.

Coated 2

I'm really not sure where this doodle is headed. I either have to develop it further or just be done with it, as I have other drawings that definitely need attention!

Manly Mongoose

I thought I'd try a full figure with the mongoose brush, and it does work fairly well, although my Photoshop is doing weird things lately and I don't know if it's handling it badly because of the brush. Still, this possible fashion model figure turned out nicely.
