Inky Sketch

I found an old 1950s cartoon ink sketch that i felt inspired by so I wanted to use the techniques in a fashion sketch. This wasn't quite what I wanted to do so maybe not use this particular brush and try again.

Possibilities, Too

While on the exploratory tangent, I found a pic of a clothed fashion model, and I liked the pose and wanted to see what it would look like naked. And here it is, although I think I might need reference shots to make it more accurate.

Nicholas Redux

I went to the center to draw and meet up with Nicholas again, after we've not had a chance to meet up in over a month. It was a good session, I think the room and his poses were great, although I wish I was a little more on my game. I think I was a bit guarded. But I like the results anyhow.

John dlS

I got to meet and draw a new model today, John. We'd been chatting a bit on Instagram about him modelling, so this was a test of sorts. The funny thing is we connected more on a personal level, so we might make plans just to hang.

I've been sketching up a storm, trying to make something as my next IG post, but I realize the folly in tat because it's me not making art for my art, but me trying to create content. And it's a battle I realize I've lost more than a bit, even if the need for content has spurred my art a lot over the last 14 years. Anyhow, this guy is one of several different sketches I was working on, trying in one PSD file that I named possibilities...

Brushed Charcoal Test 2

It's kind of a good thing I decided to do this—it's allowing me to make my mistakes in the study as well as correct anything, before I commit to charcoal. Plus it's making me appreciate the smoothness necessary in the render to get that latex effect. SO now she has only one foot showing, and it needs to be further back behind her knee...

Brushed Charcoal Test

I'm doing something I' ve never done before:plan a ntural media sketch digitally. Basically I wanted to map out realistic shading and highlights in this leather/latex outfit, and do a study before I go in with actual charcoal. I hope I don't end up liking the digital part more when I'm done! But this is just the initial stab at it.

That Spread Again

I must watch/see too much homoerotic stuff but this pose is so typical in porn, as well as in fashion nowadays. I guess it's the promise of what's down there. Anyhow, I couldn't figure out the foreshortening so I tried adding shorts, which helped. I can see the mistakes now haha...gotta fix later.

Brush Test: Old Stiff Brush

I've been jonesing to make a very darks heavy sketch lately, and my usual brushes have not been scratching that itch, so I've gone searching in my archives of Photoshop brushes for ones I might have overlooked. Today's is the Old Stiff brush, which has its merits, but might not be versatile enough for all strokes. Still, it worked for his hair.

Brushed Charcoal 2

I had let this gal sit untouched since I started her, in that weird, literally painful burst of creative energy I had earlier this year. But with my inspiration towards using darker/black brushstrokes in my recent sketches, I thought, well, why not just go back to actual charcoal? I didn't get very far, but I have all materials out on my desk so I hope I continue.

Yeah, I'm really liking this guy, but sadly, his profile makes me want to draw a side view body, and I've done that a bit too much lately. Holding a ball is a conceit to a narrative, but not sure I have that story within me ot finish it! Let's see...

Dark & Dry Strokes

I've been wanting to do a more charcoal-y/dry brush sketch as my next drawing, but I don't want to use the same old Ruffin brush so I tested quite a few others on this sample sketch. Although I rather like teh face that emerged so I plan on working with this one to hopefully finagle it into a piece.

Tulle Time 2

I pulled this sketch out of obscurity and hope it will find resolution soon. I retooled his face a bit and started cleaning up the overly long anatomy. I'm daunted by the tulle he was wearing so I've turned off that layer until I'm ready to tackle it.

Hair Tossed 3

He evolves again. This time he's shaggier, like the way many of my 18 year old students are wearing their hair. I often wonder if it's a deliberate style, or just a non-styled style? Anyhow, he's more naked than ever, this one.

Haitr Tossed 2

I wondered if this counted as a continuation of the previpus iteration of Hair Tossed, or as a completely new sketch since I started over? The inspo is still Jaclyn Smith's shot in the Charlie's Angel's intro, but the sketch is completely new. Also, the model's gotten even younger.

Zara-ed

I was window shopping on Zara, because they do have some of the best ecomm styling and models around. One model's hair had theses flyaway locks in the back so I wanted to capture that in a profile drawing.

Hair Tossed

Building on yesterday's inspo, I went further and just redrew the angle to get the hair movement I've been thinking of portraying. it's funny how the hair is the priority, and the body pose will have to work after I get the proper hair in! But this isn't right yet either.

Overhead Chair 2

I had a specific hair style in mind (Jaclyn Smith in the opening of Charlie's Angels, to be exact...but male) but damn if that overhead angle is difficult to figure out in the nude!
