A reader mentioned how much she likes Zenaida. I'm quite surprised how many people respond to her, but on the other hand, she's so happy, how can you not? This is for Joanie.

I stumbled upon your blog last year and have been following it ever since. Was compelled to leave a comment as today's sketch spoke to me. Actually, that IS me (well, okay, not exactly but close enough)! I absolutely love this character of yours and her Odalisque-ish pose. I also love the shade you chose for the background. Nice!
Thanks all - and thank you, Joanie, for such a lovely writeup on your blog... much appreciated!
And I have to be up front - Zenaida's curlique knees and elbows are a direct influence from Hank Ketcham of Dennis The Menace fame. But just for Zenaida. I think it's the perfect way to show she has joints. Especially when one can get distracted by her other qualities! :)
I do recall the curlicues in Hank Ketcham's strip, but they were nowhere near as precious as they are on Zenaida. Perhaps it's because she's so unabashedly vibrant and joyous.
Thank you again, George.
Oh, and you may now take credit for my recent purchase of a sketch book and a couple of nice pencils. My first such purchase in 20 (sputter) years.
I came here by way of Joanie, too. Love this! I knew those curliques nudged my memories. Hank Ketcham it is. I think they're a great nod to his style. :)

Thank you! She's lovely. And given how my head and body have been so heavy this week, her repose reflects mine.
Thank you, George. You are amazing in so many wonderful ways!
