I finished the commission, and I also signed away all rights to it. It was Work for Hire, which I normally wouldn't do, but I didn't really care about this drawing and the price was good enough.
It might not seem like a big deal but I spent a lot of time sorting out those feet. Who knew something so simple could be so fraught with constant revision? (on my part tho'.)

Sleepy Sleeper 2
When I was younger, I learned an important thing about getting the details right. In an X-men comic where the young Phoenix ambushes the villain Selene in her sleep, Selene is depicted as sleeping in a string bikini. My best friend at the time pointed this out, saying, "What kind of woman goes to bed in a string bikini?!?" Granted, Selene was a sexed up psychic vampire who lived in a hidden city that was stuck in the Roman era, but yeah. Clearly the artist was a man who had no clue.
Sleepy Sleeper
I got home past 2 am last night, coming from a Halloween party in Park Slope (funfunfun) but that meant I couldn't upload my drawing form yesterday in time. Actually, I can't even upload it fully since it's a new commission I received on Friday, and not sure what they woud want so far as publication issues with it. So you get the preview rough.

On The Boulevardier
Went out drinking with a few design pod co-workers and have to delay my drawing entry for tonight because I am way to sloshed to publish anything!
Edit: So I FINALLY did a sketch many days later on 11.05.16... and it's a pose I saw on a photo I can no longer find, so this is my impression of the stance —which is the way it should be, methinks: a drawing based on an idea, not copied from a photo if at all possible.

Blued
I'm winding down on a 7 month assignment working for a big corporate apparel retailer. And I'm creatively and emotionally depleted for now. It's been a good experience, but a taxing one. I can barely draw.

Paper Cranes
At the offices where I worked for the past 7 months, we would make boards with printouts all the time, and I thought it was so wasteful on paper. I would end up printing so many versions of things that would never get used, or would need to be reviewed so that everything had to be reprinted. I took to folding old project printouts into paper cranes, and 'recycling' them that way.

Blue Hair 2
Kind of blue everything... and since he feels like JFK Jr. to me so I put in a hairy chest (gawd that man was amazing. RIP JFK Jr).

Blue Hair
I was doodling while half asleep and he drawing started looking vaguely like JFK, Jr. This could turn into an interesting drawing if I develop it properly.

Strangeness 2
When I was growing up in Manila, while talking to friends on the phone I would doodle on the calendar next to the phones. Often, drawings done the day before would be built upon further, and I find I do the same kind of doodling now, except in digital format.

Strangeness
I was always a big fan of the Dr.Strange books, although never enough to draw him. I tried to draw his costume tonight and realized I didn't know exactly what it looked like. When I googled it up, I was determined to modernize it a bit... but then I lost interest.

Inktober ~ Movember
I was drawing something for Inktober and it became a Movember thing because I wanted to draw a sheriff-type character with a moustache.

Inktober
What better way to celebrate Inktober than to do an ink (well, digital ink) drawing of an inked guy? Just a quickie though.

Spring Layer 9
More reductive editing. Less is very often more. This is a detail of how I intend to reduce teh drawing, but I have a feeling I will need to retool the upper half.

Spring Layer 8
Now that I've goten some of the details I wanted done out of the way, I can start deleting elements and get it to look more minimal. Yeah, the digital watercolor process is often more reductive with me, starting with something way over-rendered hen peeling back the layers and arriving at something that looks spontaneous.

Jonny Quest 2016
I was trying to draw a male model face in the current vein, and this face popped up as I was working. Combined with the light hair and the black turtleneck, I thought he looked like cartoon character Jonny Quest.
Transy
I drew this face earlier in the day, and I thought I was drawing an edgy young male model, but I kept getting edgy female instead, and I wasn't sure where to go. I'm still undecided if she looks like she's a trans version of the older son of Winona Ryder's character, whose name I can't recall.
I forgot to post on time so this is yesterday's post.

Brush Play
I agreed to have drinks with my neighbor but she;s chatty and we ended up an hour longer than I thought I would be. Also much drunker. So, my drawing skills are somewhat impaired...
But I took out some old 'Nagel' brushes that I had downloaded about 6 years ago when I first started really focusing on painting digitally. I tested them out and man, they're so primitive compared to the brushes I use now. So I wasn't enthused enough to even finish this sketch or make it halfway decent.

Peeps
I'm printing a paper do I did of a friend for his birthday this weekend. This is part of my friend's paper doll 'accessories'.

Tableau 13
Back to these gals... I did two drawings for the same client, who wanted a couple more looks. I cant post them as that would preempt their presentation, but I can certainly post the face.

Ernestoon, 40th Anniversary Edition
My friend Ernesto's birthday is coming up, and I know he loves the paper doll I made of him, so I updated it for his upcoming 40th with his current hairstyle, his tatts and an adjustment to his expression which I think is more of a likeness than previously.

Pantsuit Brigade
I saw this post on Instagram and fell in love with its energy, and especially the black girl with the blonde updo. She inspired me to draw this (also partly based on the junior designer I'm training) using the Deliciously Dry Brush (guess it counts for Inktober?).

Gouache Kitties
Developing my own techniques for painterly kitties. This one in a series of gouache brushes, which yes I realize I spelled wrong throughout the painting! But hey, the kitties look good!

Siamese
I always wanted a big fat, boufy cat, but I also loved sleek Siamese cats (although I do recall wanting them to be as big and round as possible, which is so not the breed!)
