Delish Guy 3

I realize this guy isn't going to look delish at all to anyone, so I feel I need to clarify that the title comes from the name of the brush I'm using, the Deliciously Dry Brush.

I thought he looked okay, but then a second glance made me realize I need to fix this drawing on many levels. And it's not going right either!

So I retooled yesterday's face with a different brush, the nicely named Deliciously Dry Brush, and it's made me change a lot of my direction on this face for a more delicate approach—and my usual nudity, haha. Now I kinda like his potential... although I'm rethinking his Hugh Grant floppy hair.

Drag Dot Man

Continuing my experiments with new brushes, this one being the curiously named Drag Dot. It does have a very dry feel, maybe even more with my light application. This guy looks like some English working class character to me, awaiting the costume to flesh out his character's image...

Vyse-y Inks, Done

I hadn't posted on Instagram in 6 days and I was panicking about what to post. I wasn't too keen on this piece but it was close to finishing, and could be retooled as need by. Plus a change of ink color to a deep mallard seemed to make it pop!

Lube Tube

Again, until 3 pm, I had nothing to do at work while waiting for work to arrive. Of course it comes at 3 pm, so I have to rush to finish it all. I drew this tube while waiting, in anticipation of a design job I was negotiating.

Cafe´con Leche

I was thinking of her skin tonw when I named this blog post. It reminds me of when we had a mannequin skin tone that referred to coffee.

Swatch Snake

I didn't have much to do at my new job after the initial baptism by fire I had when I  began on Monday, so I just did design research all day and this was a color swatch study I made for a possible project.

Phone Face

Whenever I find myself waiting on the train, instead of reading something on my phone, I attempt to doodle. This is one such doodle that began on the subway train and got completed afterwards.

Swaying Coat

I was wondering to myself if I can animate a coat in the wind without referring to anything. Guess I need more practice.

Pigeon Feather

I found a feather on the sidewalk and thought I'd take it home and draw it. It was surprisingly easy, but then again, I always have fun drawing from life. I put some text on it to add some graphic flavor.

I saw an article in New York magazine about how a single earring has become the style for young gay men in NY. So I thought I'd do my own spin on it.

Suity Trial

I was watching tv on my iPad and decided to try and do a shadow study for a possible sketch. Not the best study but it counts as a drawing for posting.

I was testing out some new brushes (the Deliciously Dry Brush) and thought I'd end up with some Bill Sienkievich type drawing but noooo, this rough guy came up. But I do like teh pose, even if I don't like the finish.

That blue guy on the left was the new addition. Still trying to find that brush I used on the woman's hair next to him!  I wonder if it was something I altered in the dynamics or somesuch setting?

I am not happy with the guy I drew so I altered his looks to make him not so twinky. But I'm not sure it works yet.

Played more with the Rough and Rowdy brushes, but added a background with the Scratch Glaze Brush, from the SS2018 Brushes.

This was a fantastic surprise—I decided to play some more with the previous drawing I had done, and when I removed the outline layer I had constructed for the silhouette,  it was almost exactly something I had been planning to do but didn't realize how clearly how to do it.

I went away from Richard's signature style a bit from my last post The heavy inks are there but I'm not sure about how to color it yet, and this is just a sample.

Hand Shadow 2

I had an epiphany last night about how the shadows should be, and it really does feel like an old school poster with the rough brush strokes (although I'm not sure you can see them at this size). The towel, however, while provocative, just wasn't doing it for me as a piece, I subbed in some speedos for now but I might just give him conventional long shorts just to make him more contemporary. That hand though, is WAY bad—still need to fix that!

Hand Shadow

I saw a poster of a model doing this pose (albeit with clothes on) and I thought it would be nice to do in an old-school poster-style minimalist way. I laid in the form but have to see about getting the anatomy down properly, as well as really finessing the way I color it.

It was my artist FB friend Richard Vyse's birthday so I thought I'd do an homage to his work by working in a heavy ink style. Except I never got to finish it properly to post for him, but this isn't a bad start.

This is a drawing based on an of drawing of mine, and I figured I might redo it in my current style. This is an initial sketch, maybe I'll finish it more later.

Sumiboom too

Just another quickie. Not necessarily feeling this Sumi Boom brush in this version, but then again, I think I might have used a few others and forgotten which ones I used. (That's definitely the Rough and Rowdy on the hair)

That's the name of the brush I used to make these textures. Feels like my old serigraph work back in college.

Wyatt

Every so often you have sessions where you just get so inspired that you just enjoy the process AND the final pieces you produce. Drawing the sexy and charming model Wyatt yesterday at Kung’s loft was like that for me. I don’t recall the last time a model got in character and had an expression for a pose! He was a joy to draw, and he struck poses that would have been very academic and otherwise normal, but he had such a build and presence about him that I enjoyed myself immensely drawing him. And painting!  I even did a watercolor!

Subway Lips

Another train sketch on my iPhone, this time of a fellow passenger who had features that were pretty enough to make him different, but not exactly model pretty. He had quite the lips and deep set eyes. Even if we were two whole benches away, I think he started to feel like someone was watching him, like the stalker I am, lol

Pink and Red

I started a sketch on my phone based on a woman I saw wearing a red dress over a hot pink bra, and whenever I have free time on the train I bring it out and draw a little more on it. I added the face this time.
