Hudsone Face 2

Well, not just a face but a profile of his body, plus his shoulder blade. I've observed some guys having a prominent shoulder blade like this, and it's something I never took note to draw before. Well, here we are.

Hudson Face

I still have not found my sweet spot with the iPad, so I'm still not sure about using it for drawing the way I do my desktop arrangement. With this sketch i tried using less inks and more of a shaded approach. Not bad, but still not quite there...

Tool & Shortcuts

I was testing out the tool shortcuts function on Photoshop for the iPad, which has made me want to try drawing on it more, especially since I love using my iPad now when I travel (mostly to watch movies). But then I drew an actual tool on the guy...I guess I rarely sketch a penis lying down.

Train Faces

Was just sketching faces at the store based on some I started on my iPad in the train.

Barong 2023

A few weeks back I sketched this barong idea that I might want to have made, but never posted it. On a sketchbook, no less! I pulled it out and added a few more details to make it count for today's sketch.

Towel Boy Silhouetted

I was up in Hudson and distracted by being up there (as usual) so much that I really didn't have time to post anything. Being away from my computer  (a lot of my previous posts were already done, since I had a rash of new drawings I just needed to post) just isn't conducive to that. But after my online "friend" John (quotation makrs because I really don't know his intentions anymore) pointed out I hadn't been posting, I rummaged through my old files to find one I could polish up to post.

I tried to flesh out the pose more and decided that I wasn't doing a good job of it, so I lost interest after drawing these wonky legs, lol

I was reminiscing about life drawing sessions and how it's been ages since I sat and participated in one, and thought, maybe I can construct a fake one and draw all the poses as if I were in one that never existed.

DickSuit

I saw a beautiful shot of a white suit on Zara's website, and of course decided to warp it by having the guy's dick stand out.

Roped

Can't recall where I got inspired to do this, but it started out as a simple guy standing, and I thought, what if he's almost mummified in rope, and his dick is sticking out (of course).

Ink Face 3

I decided to give him a peach fuzz mustache yesterday, and I both like and loathe it as the colors and shadows come into play. I'm not sure he's improving with all these colors, although it's certainly a fun experiment for me.

I love this face so much, because it doesn't look like my typical guys. Is it the wide nose? I'm trying to flesh it out now and see if I can understand this type of face and flesh it out without using a photo reference at all.

I saw a beautiful male model's portrait, I think he was displaying jewelry, and I loved how his face looked. So I studied it, then put it away, and used it as inspiration for this face. I seldom draw twinky looking guys as a rule, although I might have drawn a lot here as I try to make my male models look more current (I am fully aware that my formative 80s years influence the type of guy I find hot). I suppose he's more of a twunk with that thick neck.

Chin Ups, Unused

I wanted to flesh out the form more and do more of the legs to showcase the anatomical movement, but decided I didn't draw it right and would have needed a model to get it just so. So I didn't use it for my Insta post but here it is.

Chin Ups, Done

I always think my drawings are "done" when I finish them, but I ALWAYS end up adjusting them before I publish them on Instagram. Something about seeing them reduced in size and seen on the phone screen that I always have to make improvements that seem glaring when reduced to that viewport. For one, I wasn't completely secure in my anatomy from that view of the arms, so i went searching for videos on Instagram of men doing pullups, and freezing the vids to find the right angles and then usually, extrapolation the anatomy from another view not on the screen. It's all a lot of figuring out for something I do only for those who might know better than me—hey, it's due diligence! Anyhow, here's the shirtless version that made it on IG.

Chin Ups

Inspired by the guys at the gym who do chin-ups, I always catch myself staring at their abs when their shirts ride up, and mentally I'm thinking of what the rest looks like, haha. Well, I might as well not wonder and just draw it!

Fashion Face Redux

This is kind of a default face for me now, this minimal, chinless portrait. But I like it. Might have to see if other poses work as well.

Phone Bed

Inspired by an artist I discovered on Instagram, I decided to go back to stark inks, using the Ruffin brush. I'm relatively happy with how this came together so quickly, although I think that arm needs revisiting. Might need to draw the whole figure in detail to see if that forearm is properly situated...!

Bossy 2

Gah, these pants are driving me nuts! But after MULTIPLE iterations, I think I finally retooled them to reflect both the original edict, as well as look more naturalistic in the walk pose. Still not 100% happy, but done is better than perfect.

60s Style Dad, Done

I got him ready for Instagram, and I like it, but don't love it. I see from my likes on IG though that the public so far is not enthused. MAybe they can sense when I'm half assing it? Or is it just the lack of peen? Ah well, can't win em all.

My Daddy issues are coming into play with this Race Bannon/Mr.Phelps-inspired man specimen. I was playing with the wet charcoal brush to see how it works with my ink style, but I'm not sure if it does or doesn't. I like how the face turned out though, but need to revisit that arm.

Easter 2023

This was my Instagram entry for Easter. I was inspired to do graphic desiign again! Yay! And a minimalist rabbit was the drawing, which I have to say, I rather enjoy.

Pink & Red 3

I thought I'd try and post this on Facebook for my Art of Fashion Illustration group's First Friday posts, but I kept tinkering with the symmetry of the face, and couldn't get a balance with symmetry and linking the symmetry! Lol. My eye is just naturally lopsided, I think.

In Store 24

Reworked the shoes and added another view. I love walking poses, or at least, trying to perfect walking poses.

Bossy

I am prepping to post some of this old work now that my client, Boss, has already sold this season. But I find I'm not selling it to myself, as even in the 2 years since I did these, I feel like my skills have improved and I wanted to correct things. So the guy on the right got a major leg rework. It was stiff and awkward, and while it's not perfect, I feel like it's less so now. Although I feel like I could learn to make the pants look more properly draped and less like they're wrapped around his muscles.

Antonio-ish

I was constructing my faces as I normally do, and this guy started feeling like I should try and do an Antonio interpretation. I don't think it turned out that way, but that was the genesis of it anyhow.

Leg Days 2

I really like this technique of letting the background color be the shadow, and it works really well with white pants. So I'm prepping it for posting it to my portfolio as a variant of the Boss stuff I did. I tweaked the right pants leg as well as the shoulders on the jacket...

John's Legs and Scrunchy Socks 2 (Done?)

I needed something to post on Instagram as my 1 week deadline loomed (I try to post at least weekly). But while I thought this would be good to go, it needed some serious tweaking, both in the musculature and in the shoes. But it's done and posted to IG now.

In Store 23

I got  completely diverted and am now getting back to my In Store project, which I missed the window on for Fall 22, but am now focusing on again for Spring 23. And with all the wide leg pants, this was inspired by a photo on Zara's website, which I studied, then put away. Inspired by, not copied from!

White Socks & Loafers 3

I didn't like the white shirt—too reminiscent of stuff I've already done. Plus I still want to do something interesting with his arms. But in true Me fashion I diverted my attentions to drawing something else while I figure out the arm situation.
