I liked how the sweater draped in a photo I found so I used it as a reference to draw from and study the draping.

Happy Boy
Rene Gruau's penchant for drawing a woman laughing with her mouth in an open smile is so classic, I learned it from another fashion illustrator who was imitating it back in the day. Although I'm not sure they would have used it for a guy getting nekkid in the drawing, but that's MY update!

Minimal 2020
I like to draw minimally, but this—while making use of my regular techniques—looks so right. I'm going to try and keep this style up and see where it goes for me.

House This For A Gift?
My friends asked me to draw the new house of some mutual friends so that they can gift them with greeting cards with teh drawing on top. It's a nice House Warming present (featuring their house). Except I have to fake my way through—I'm horrible with archtecture!

Inclined To Recline 3
I thought adding volume and shading would help, and it does but it also
highlights the anatomy in ways that I'm not sure I know how to render! I
asked a friend to pose for me but he hasn't gotten back to me. Ugh.

Pander Peen
I decided to try and make him a Towel Tuesday thing, but I've done this before and I'm not interested in posting for posting's sake.

Inclined To Recline 2
That bend in his body is getting to me. Not sure how the flesh will 'fold' there, and even if I did, I'm not sure it would look real...

Inclined To Recline
I got this idea to do a guy not only lying in the floor and being foreshortened, but also curling his body to the right. I don't have a reference since the pose is just something I dreamed up, so I'm totally making this up, and it's not looking quite right. Not sure how to handle this one.

Downton-esque 3 (Pander Peen)
I'm drawing something to prep for Instagram, and it's totally pandering: I haven't posted in a while and I don't really have the desire to, so I wanted to post something that I feel will get likes. But I don't like it so I'm not really keen on posting it either. Guess I'm not pandering entirely!

Downton-esque 2
Instead of mimicking Downton any further, I thought I'd try the Ruffin brush on my own style of male nudes.

Ruffin Ready 5
I've changed his hair and his nose a lot, and now he doesn't look/feel like a model anymore. Even a vintage one! Ugh, back to the drawing board...
Downton-esque
I realize that the Ruffin brush has a waxy finish that resembles some of David Downton's strokes when he outlines his figures.

Ruffin Ready 3
My problem with minimalism is the scrutiny of the marks that are there, when an artist's tendency is to draw in as much detail as possible. I didn't like his face and kept tinkering. Not sure it's an improvement.

Ruffin Ready
The Ruffin Brush that I just discovered has an inky, oily quality to it that I'm starting to love.
Meanwhile I thought I was drawing a woman but it turned out to be a bit too manly.

Fashion Redux 3
Exploring possible new faces. I wanted to do someone Middle Eastern, but don't have enough experience drawing those features from memory...

New Brushes Tests
Kyle Webster mentioned that there were new Photoshop brushes available from Adobe so I downloaded some and tried a couple out.

New House
A friend commissioned me to do a drawing of a friend's new house as a gift, so here's the start of it.

Classic Neck
There was a fashion photograph showing a model seated at a table, tilting his neck in a way that I thought conjured up classical paintings. So I used that pose as inspiration for a half naked guy seated (sans table). And then I thought, haven't I drawn this exact pose before?

White Shirt Project
I love me a man in a white shirt and nothing else. And I asked a model online if he'd be the first one in what could hopefully be a series. This is the concept sketch.

Garrel's Hair
I love Louis Garrel's unruly mop of Gallic hair. I can channel him without working from a photo at this point, although it might not be exactly his features. I did look up some references for the size of his jaw...

Doozy Curves 5
Did a lot of narrowing of the body and featured as well as a change of the angle on the overall stance... the evolution continues...

Doozy Curves 4
You may not notice it but when it comes down to minimal line drawings like this, the smallest details are key. I adjusted his abs and did some tweaks here and there.

Doozy Curves 3
Funny how a few changes in the face turned him from generic to looking like the actor who plaued Mister Shue on Glee. With a bodybuilder physique. In speedos.

Doozy Curves 2
And yesterday's face gets a porny body. Because I was watching porn and got inspired by the guy's physique. Strange sometimes how the artist mind will overtake my baser predilections, hehe.

Doozy Curves
Just experimenting more with this brush, which is quite smooth. Which allows for a more minimalist look and feel, methinks.
