Tilt and Pose
I saw an Instagram follower's old drawing in one of their posts and I liked the pose of a guy tilting his head just so. I haven't figured out the rest of it but I've lain the groundwork—especially since that face has to change. The fuller nose doesn't work with my usual facial structure.

Cheeky Too
Fleshing him out—almost lierally, since he's in the flesh and sans clothing (except maybe for the sneakers. So porny).

Cheeky
I got this pose in my head all of a sudden o I had to put it down, even if I didn't want to flesh it out.

David at Kung's
We were supposed to have a duo but the other half got into an accident and had to cancel. I've drawn David before and he's quite the exhibitionist. IN fact, I think he grabbed his dick a bit too much for my liking, but I must admit the final watercolor of the day was something I ended up,liking (as a piece not necessarily for his erection).

Other Boy
Developing the other guy in the two man tableau I thought I'd do with the recent black bootcut-pants man, and I'm trying to find a nice complement to get the pose going not only as part of the tableau but also for a sketch on its own.

Black Line, Done
You might not notice from two days ago but I refined the facial shading (lighter contrast for IG, so he's more mixed black and latino now) as well as the silhouette with more detailed outlines, especially around the forward foot as well as around the hand in the pocket.

Black Line Plus
I thought of maybe keeping the closer crop and adding another figure. I'm trying to do more multi-figure sketches.

Black Line 2
I decided to pull out the figure and do a silhouette, but while I wanted a heel, didn't know if I should do a slim or flared pant. So I did both. The gender fluid options had me start rethinking the styling I had originally intended for this drawing. Still adjusting the figure...

Black Line
Playing with the Badass Brush, this guy I drew reminds me of a black actor who was on some medical t.v. show, and I thought he was the most beautiful thing, but I can't remember his name.

Hermes FW2020 FInished
I decided to finish it up for an Instagram post. The second, faded version is the result of me playing with the IG filters and liking this look better, so I went and retroactively changed the colors in Photoshop to match the filter coloration.

Hermes FW2020
It's the details that do it for me a lot of the time. A scarf isn't revolutionary, but I love it as the collar of a shirt. It's just different enough to be fun. Of course, from Hermes, it will probably cost a mint. So I'll just draw it and wait for the inevitable knockoffs.

Lemaire FW2020
SO much leather on the runways! But I already knew that was coming—I'd been scouring the planet for the just-right pair of leather pants for months now. Or did I even start last year? Not sure how this intuition works, but it was telling me already! Glad to know it's still there.

Yohji FW2020
The menswear shows for FW2020 are in full swing in Paris, and I loved a look from Yohji where the model had a jacket and tie under a waist-wrapped oversized jumpsuit. Thought I'd try drawing that, and this is a prelim sketch.

Wall of Gabriel
I went to draw fave model Gabriel at the Leslie Lohman Print Street Project Space, and it was a good night. Anyhow as the night progresses, we're encouraged to tape up drawings on to the walls so that everyone can see what everyone else is working on. This was some of my work.

Fleecey 3
I was in the line at Trader Joe's the other day and I decided to study how the pile of fleece takes light and shadow. I realized I needed to amp up the texture in the gray areas using varying levels of texture, so this was an attempt at that. Not sure it's right just yet, but certainly getting there.

Matt in Rick, 4
I decided this year I needed to address a few unfinished drawing series concepts, so I have had these files on my mind for a while. I finally inked this drawing and am planning to finish the series, hopefully this year, haha!

Hard Spec
An acquaintance called me in a rush, asking me to do some drawings he could present to his client as a way to get me in and possibly get my work in for this hushhush project he's working on. I never do spec but I felt both pressured into it in the rush, plus I wanted to show goodwill to the acquaintance. I talked him into my re-purposing some old drawings with a few changes so that I wasn't drawing anything new from scratch. This is a slightly altered version of the one I sent him, although the new cargo pant details and jacket shading are the same.
I'm a bit disappointed in myself for acceding to this demand, but hopefully it will pan out in the long run.

Fleecey 2
I'm trying to figure out a way of rendering the fleece so that it looks like that heavy teddy bear pile and weight.

Chris
Had my first private session drawing a model I met on Instagram, who was finally visiting. I hadn't wanted to sketch him because he arrived sick from a vacation, and couldn't do so comfortably on Saturday like we planned. But he extended his stay by a day and I was so glad he did as he was delightful, open to anything and patient as a model. I gave him the one on the left to keep, as I do give all my private models a sketch.

Michael at Kung's
Kung's Sunday Drawing salons up in Sunnyside are my favorite drawing sessions lately. He has great models, there's good lighting at his space, and even if it's exactly he same guys at the LGBTQ Saturday sessions a The Center, they're much more convivial and social here.
Anyhow Michael was an interesting model for me, because he wasn't as cut as the preview photos Kung sent out, and since he shaved his head he looked too much like a friend of mine, Robert, so I had a weird time drawing him. Anyhow, images to come.
Late, bu here are a couple from the day, including a rare smudge technique with charcoal. I wasn't planning on smudging but thought I'd experiment. No sure it's quite there.

Fleecey
I saw a pic online of a guy snuggling into his fleece, and I wanted to channel that without copying it. I like the attitude of the sketch but not sure the fleece is translating as fluffy and cozy,

Coated 3
Trying to figure out how to leverage the nice face I drew into a finished piece. I'm not finding the sweet spot for where this illo should go.

Badass Inked
I found an older version of Kyle Webster's Badass Ink Brush, just called Badass Inker, and I've been happy to experiment with it. Not the best sketch to lead the year with, but it's fine for now.
