I thought I'd use this sketch from March as a post for Instagram, so I developed his face a bit more. I don't know if it's similar to the guy I saw in the store anymore, but he's evolved into a handsome, au courant face.

I thought I'd try sketching on the train but I quickly lost interest since I was traveling home with Rainer, and we spent more time chatting.

I had the idea for a half suit design, originally for Karma, strangely enough (based on my old Karma design from the 80s-90s) but thought it might be better as a one-lapel suit thing for Emma.

80s Silhouette Redux 2

I liked the face more than I expected to yesterday, so I might turn this into a finished piece instead of just leaving it as a random doodle. I think giving him a thicker upper lip is new for me since lately I've been doing a lot of thin-lipped Caucasians.

I have quite a few drawings in this vein, with a big black silhouette and hair. It's definiteily a comics-borne aesthetic, recently inspired by seeing Neil Gaiman's Sandman again while I am up ion Hudson.

I did another pose possibly for a 4th installment in this series, so I sketched this body as a guide for Ernesto to pose from.

I think I did a good job with the patent leather wader boots from Bottega. I didn't copy them but I DID use a few references from the runway release pics, amalgamating them for a more realistic look than my usual super hero leather renderings. And now it's ready to release on Instagram, just in time for me to head up to Hudson today.

I'm not satisfied with the anatomy on this guy's shoulder and arm, so I cleaned it up yet again and am trying to get my friend to model for me so I have another reference to adjust it from.

Frenchie

I got a new commission from  Frenchman with a penchant for nude modeling, so after I posed him the other day, this was one of 5 possible sketch treatments, and almost a signature of mine with the bathrobe. He's not my usual type of model but I find that when they aren't my sort but are a commission, it's fun to do because it almost becomes academic.

A guy I followed on instagram DMed me he would like to pose. We chatted about doing it but he ultimately flaked. These were a pair of trial pose ideas I sketched up.

In Store SS23

STILL trying to get this series off the ground, and this is the first pose for a new SS season. Except the clothes are already on sale so I might be late again!

I have a new commission client from France, so I was putting together some sketches in anticipation of our video filming, trying to conceptualize our shoot. But since I have never met the guy before, I wasn't sure if these would work. They didn't end up being used at all.

I needed to do another thing aside from my Dressed, Undressed series so I did a quick editorial style doodle.

I wanted to see if I could make the guy's face feel more real, and it does for me now, but I'm not sure it works for the model I have in mind. I also worked on his arm but I'm not sure it's right yet. I spent an inordinate amount of time staring at various men's triceps at the gym yesterday, trying to understand how the anatomy moves properly. Needless to say, no one leaned in this pose, but hopefully I have interpreted it well enough...although Now that I look at it, maybe it's a bit too long...?

Anyhow, I drew this, so it stands as an entry for today even if I decide not to use this face in the final layout.

I am quite pleased with having gotten at least 3 images in a series being worked on at the same time, as I can tweak each piece individually as necessary but also see the set together to adjust them to make sure they work together properly down from a creative overview and also down to the details. For this, I tried something I don't usually do in this style, which is add color to the face of the full fashion figure. It might be a newer thing for me, unless I'm unconsciously channeling a style.

I'm hoping I can flesh out the series before I get tired of it. This is a portrait pair for the series, although I'm wondering who gets to be nude.

The guy on the right was an experiment that becne with, do a contemporary guy with big, crystal blue pupils. Then he became an amalgam of Cyrus Amini and some young modely-y OF performers plus the current TikTok hair do (which is really a feathered version of the haircuts I've been drawing for years)

I had an idea to do male models posing in fashion with nude male models, almost a gay, updated version of what Avedon's Versace ads with Marcus Schenkenberg used to be.

Trying out newer positions. Want to do at least 3. And this is, of course, without references (yet).

This is a play on words, since there's a popular Insta account I follow all about very round animals, called Round Boys. But this is an idea of men and boys posing within a circular opening. I'm excited to see how many poses I can get out of it. Although I wonder if I should go super clean line work, or leave it rugh like that?I was thinking it should be like a Greek vase.

I'm torn between the hot, kind of classic male faces I've been sketching unconsciously, or trying to make them more contemporary and model-y looking. This is more of the former, but with bad hair as I try and figure out his hairstyle.

Lord knows I see enough porn with ample manspread, but interestingly enough, the main inspiration in my head is Helmut Newton's photograph of a woman manspreading in a sort of role reversal. But this idea is a vision I had in my head a few days ago, and it's been strong enough in there that I needed to commit it to pixels and get it out and done. I like the dark and moody shading I see in my head, hopefully I can get that all out.

Was just doodling and I couldn't decide whether to do a walk pose or a manspread pose. So here are both doodles.

I tried using hot pick for shading, inspired by my online friend and fellow artist Cesar Arias. I like it, although not sure how to realize this technique fully.

After spending time retooling the figure yesterday, I popped up the old layers (I always work on new layers if I can, to see if I want to go back to an older version) and realized, I really prefer this version. So I tweaked a bit but also added some highlights, which I'm not sure I'm into but we'll see.

I reconfigured his body to be slimmer like a male model's, and I'm trying to figure out if this is an actual improvement or not.

I had a minor epiphany at the Maker Gymnasium the other night: forearm muscles are like calf muscles! I didn't think of it before, that the form is similar to our legs but just had diverged via usages when men stood upright. So now I'm trying to get the same level of muscle memory in drawing teh shape of the forearm the way I do the stylized shape of lower legs, complete with the similar assymetry of the muslces. I started seeing parallels with the triceps and biceps to the quads, and I feel like such an idiot for not thinking of it before.
