I forgot to save the original file of this version of the sketch so I guess this is the only, low rez version of this sketch in existence!

Doozy Inker
Found a new, smooth brush lurking in my folders, the Doozy Inker from Kyle Webster's pre-Adobe run, I believe. It's a doozy! I like how smooth it runs.

Put some pants on, Ernie!
I drew my friend Ernie nude, but for IG I decided to protect his decency by drawing some white speedos on him!

Hudson Highlights
I have a commission from a friend to do a montage of scenes from his adopted town of Hudson. These are explorations of the simple style.

Vine Charcoal Profile
I was watching a Kyle Webster livestream recording on Behance and was following along with his old Vine Charcoal brush in Photoshop. I ended up liking the profile I drew as a result, so here she is. Although she is a bit mannish so I should probably soften her up some more... ah the perils of drawing guys almost exclusively now.

Craig Don
I'd been following and chatting with this one nude model Craig online for over a year, and since he's based in London I seldom had the opportunity to draw him. Yet when I finally did on a Zoom meeting today, I was so out of it I just decided to deal with my recent computer issues instead of pursuing the sketch session more than after a few poses. I was kinda out of it and I think his poses weren't intriguing enough for me in that state either.

Jil Hat
The Jil Sander collection had a nice hat with attached panels covering one from all saides, but it doesn't seem to be translating well in this sketch,

Hair Prada
I wanted to do a minimalist fashion illustration to match the equally pared back Prada SS2021 collection that was just released. And this sketch came together rather quickly, almost in one continuous stroke. It's all about that hair.

Center Part
A styling thing I noticed in the current SS21 menswear styling is that many models were sporting a center part, whether their hair was long or not. This was inspired by the model in Juun J's collection release.

Unzip and Strip 2
I thought about more focus, and removing the pants does add more focus! lol
Although maybe I need to find a different color so he doesn't feel like an Easter marshmallow candy...

Unzip And Strip
After all those clothes all I wanted to do was draw a guy removing his. Et voila. So much more in my wheelhouse lately, or at least, easier to do! Guess I'm more confident with shape.

Worky 16
I find that I can get the shapes right, but when I finish the piece it's the clincher: and the downfall. I can't seem to make the products look like they flow properly, especially when I focus a lot on the details.

Worky 16
I submitted this to the client and had the time to rework the drape and fold. I think I got it right with the shape but it's more of the painting that's been a problem for me, to get the proper volumes and to make them look right and flow well. I need lessons. Or at least practice!

Worky 15
I changed the colors on this to protect the client until after they finish their collection, but I liked this piece and how easily the clothing came together. Although the update is more on the face, which you don't see here (and I don't like it much, now that all is said and done, lol. But done is better than perfect!)

Worky 14
After pulling a near all nighter (does 5 am count?) I submitted the first half of colored pieces. Not sure I have the time but I'd love to correct everything that doesn't look right—my finishes are good but these proportions are soooo off. But my faces are doing okay. I kinda like this guy, although there's no telling how he'll evolve once I start painting in earnest,

Worky 13
Now painting the figures and sometimes the sktch works but lately, I'm finding y proportions are soooo off. Ugh, I need to fix this.

Worky 12
I hope I'll be practiced enough to start doing these in a way that is automatic. I'm laboring so much with these walking poses.

Worky 11
Can you tell that all I've done is work on my commission? It's both extremely fun and tense at teh same time because I want to do a great job but don't have the time. Sometimes I wish the raw files were just the final piece... they look so nice and immediate.

Worky 10
One of the biggest challenges I've been having is getting a frontal walk cycle to look natural. It's just always looking a bit forced. But sometimes they look good like with these feet.

Worky 9
Juuust making more faces. I always start out with a visual shorthand that gets tweaked within an inch of its life for the final piece, but I also like the shorthand even if they look old school (or maybe because they do!)

Worky 8
Well, I made my deadline, but I can't really show any of the work in deference to the client (even if I do have copyrights and they haven't paid me a downpayment yet, so technically, I don't think I have any need to defer to them until they fully honor the agreement). So I thought, what if I show ALL the work, overlaid together? I kinda like it.

Worky 7
Another reject from the sketch pile. I was trying for variations in poses but felt like his one went too far off the prescribed art direction.
