Minimal

I'm really getting into this raw line, minimalist style. I need to find out how to do it on order, though. All I'm doing is spontaneously sketching what comes to mind... and watermarking itbecause I recognize how stealable it looks.

Preppy Line

I love how this spontaneous line drawing came out. I imagine he's some preppy guy at a country club in some existentialist discussion with his guests.

Entangled In Rick

Went up to Hudson on Friday and visited local avant-garde fashion shop Katsuri, and tried on the Rick multi-opening tank top that I wondered if I could rock. My problem with it isn't that it's a great piece, it's more of the fact that it might wear me instead of the other way around.

Pavlovian

In instagram, what drawing pose would make people have a Pavlovian reaction? A crotch-centric shot always gets them thirsty, methinks.

I don't think I've sketched my Venus of the Rice at all this year, and I think she's looking rather prety in this shot.

Meetup With Michael

I was hoping to get some good pieces again like from last Saturday's session with Runn, but it didn't work out that way with Michael. I don't know how much the model has to do with it but it could have been the overall vibe of the session. Anyhow, I got some good drawing done, just not any good finished drawings, if that makes any sense.

Jump Start

I had a quick idea for a mad in mid jump, wearing long shorts and sporty accessories. I often love the first sketch more than the finished drawing because the details often never live up to the fluidity of the rough. The Start is almost always better than the Finished.

Spent all morning drawing and organizing my presentation for this client. It went well, so now I'm cleaning up the selected thumbnails. These guys weren't selected so they're fair game for publishing. Image to come.

I spent all evening working on a series of sketches about Facial Shapes, but since they're for a client, I'm not posting full shots here until I get final approval of what items they want for the project. But I could do a peekaboo.

Runn

I woke up early on Saturday determined to go draw at Gay Art NYC's regular Saturday morning thing, and I had high hopes of making good pieces. Well, I was seriously stoked when the lithe and quirky model Runn turned out to be everything I needed to spur on the creative juices. He was great to draw in ways I didn't expect, and I was quite inspired to do good work, so much so that that I really liked more than a couple of pieces in the lot.

The Long Arm 7

I loved this face when I originally drew it, but I've since learned newer techniques for drawing various facial parts, so it's a constantly evolving aesthetic.

I Heart My Face

...because he's got a heart shaped face. Which he supposedly shouldn't style with a center part??

Apparently I never published this drawing back on March 2nd, because I had done a drawing I deemed the entry for that day... which puzzles me because aside from some minor corrections, I rather like how it turned out.

Gym Hair

I was watching a guy at the gym while he paused in his workout, and I thought to myself, he's got so much hair in a way that I don't ever think to draw. This kind of curly fullness wasn't something in my wheelhouse or lexicon, so I thought I should remember it to add to my repertoire. Well, rather than wait, I thought, why not sketch him now? So I pulled out my phone and did a quick sketch on Procreate.

I keep sketching with this one. I have a vision in mind and I'm starting to supercede the serendipity and try and make it what I envisioned.

I have/had an intention with him but it keeps changing as I draw, and my drawing affects what I'm allowing to happen. I can never really draw what is in my head the first time—there's always a lot of compromise when what I put down in pixel (or paper) is good enough o continue with, which may or may not be part of the vision.

WHat the heck is a Parallel KTW Cleaner?

It's the name of the kinda stick-like Kyle Webster Brush, but I'm not sure what it's origins (or etymology) are.

I'd been seeing more color combinations in nature and in photo references, and I've taken to extracting the palettes from them. This one was from a photo I took of a wall in Williamsburg,

Color Study

I was taking the subway home from watering my friend's pants last week, and I saw a woman leaning against the door of the car in an outfit whose color combination really appealed to me. I took out my phone and starting laying down the colors I saw in her, and then I made a quick sketch of her and cleaned it up a bit tonight.

Profile

I was kinda torn with how to make this face. I kept on changing directions as I went on, which seemed to me to lack focus. it made me think that I can't really draw something with intention but merely react, repairing the lines I place down with newer ones.
