It really is a new moment for me if I'm concentrating on all these female fashion sketches and have not had an ounce of time to finish up a male nude! Methinks that also needs to change. Also, he needed to rotate for a more relaxed angle..

I sent this to my friend Renaldo and he sent it back with corrections! hehe. So I implemented them in the Liquefy filter. And I fixed the legs and color saturation while I was at it.

6000

So, this drawing is numbered 6000, which means that in this blog I have at least 6000 drawings. Which is odd, because I have more than 6000 posts, and some of them have multiple images. So somewhere along the way I screwed up and numbered things incorrectly, but that doesn't matter since I am NOT going back to try and correct it at this point. What if i screwed up at post 3000? Eek, I[d have to fix things from post 3001, or whatever I erroneously numbered it.

Anyhow, it's kinda telling that my 6000th (by the numbers) drawing is a women's fashion demo. I used to love drawing women's fashions, and I still don't love it like I used to, but I'm doing it again because I now teach at FIT.

Just thought I'd see what she looked like with color. I need to be careful I don't revert to my favored looks from my heyday as that could look dated. As is, I think I need to change the hair...

I just realized I have been so busy working at school, I've neglected my drawings! And I have a demo coming up soon in November, where I'll have to draw live.  So I'm gonna need some practice.

I decided to do a drawing based on my old shoots. This one is from the shoot I did of my friend Francesco a could of years back. I often have a lot of alternative poses in my photoshoots, but I ultimately end up choosing one to work eith and then I tend to forget about the rest. But I'm going to try and go back into my archives because why not? They're there and available, ans some of them are great.

Base Drawing

I usually don't do a base drawing, as my process for digital sketching involves a lot of mark making and revision. Because digital techniques are so forgiving, I can keep the lines I want and delete the ones I don't with no overworking of the substrate (unlike when you do stuff on paper, for example). So starting with a base isn't something I normally do, and after doing this trial, not something I intend to do in future. But it as a good trial.

Graphic Test

I decided to experiment on how to render a hand-drawn stripe pattern in Photoshop, and I needed to apply it to a fashion figure. I don't think it turned out too badly! Although the tile could be less obvious.

A Terrible Sample

I had to draw a bad example of a croquis that you could bring into Photoshop and then clean up and fix for proper presentation. It's a cringey drawing but it worked for what I needed it to. Not a great sketch for my birthday haha

I made a separate poppy print sketch for my students to play with as part of the lab session on print design. It was also part of my Peer Review, where another teacher grades me on my performance, to evaluate me for future employment haha

I'm creating demos for my class print lesson and needed elements to practice on, so these were the individual flower elements I drew to play with. So boring, right? Well, it gets better when you make it into a repeating pattern.

I was chatting with a friend about print design in the industry, and we talked about how the size of the role affects your print runs. Since I don't design prints for fabric per se, I needed clarity and I drew these quick sketches to clarify what he meant.

I needed something to put up on Instagram and I went through my old sketches, and this one from March looked like it needed to debut. When I originally drew him, I was so concerned with making him look au courant and young, that I gave him fashion hair that worked well at the time. But now that I review him, I think it needs to go back to the original, older hot guy hair, because that's how I envisioned him (despite my initial misgivings).

I tried to do a foreshortened reclining post without any references whatsoever and from memory only, and I failed miserably.
