One Line, Two Legs
I drew all the black lines in one continuous line without once lifting my hand. All the white parts were done afterward, of course, but still, I'm quite proud of the continuous contour line.

Face Building
I've been trying to find my formula for creating and shading black faces, specifically the more African (versus African American) types that show up in the menswear shows and ads nowadays. I don't know where they're from and I do want to learn more. Right now, I'm just working with visuals. I'm especially keen on the guys with really dark, almost blue black skin, which I think looks so beautiful.

Happy Cat Day!
I didn't realize until my brothers pointed it out on Viber that it was national Cat Day. So I whipped out one of my brush kitties.

Vote Boy 4
I'm happy the way his all American features are coming through even if this kind of twinky face isn't my preference to draw. He's a bit milquetoast for me, but oh well...

Vote Boy 2
This arm pose was one I had done before, and maybe that's why I wasn't so keen on doing it again—even if it seems to fit the drawing I'm trying to do. That said, I guess I'm not getting it right because it's nothing new or challenging. Stupid arms.

W Concept
Saw a great pose while shopping the W Concept site and it was kind of perfect as is. But I didn't want to copy it so I just studied it, put the image away then sketched it from memory. I'm hoping that's a way to properly channel a photo reference.

Jamie at Drink & Draw Online
I was excited to draw the handsome Jamie Mack via Drink & Draw's online Saturday group drawing session. I didn't have much time to prepare so I decided to just do digital, and to expedite the work I used the Ruffin brush alone, and kept it fairly minimal to prevent the kinds of disappointments I've had with drawing online with Photoshop before, when I tried to do too much. Not the best but not bad.

Making Faces
Just playing with the Ruffin brush even more, because I'm so enamored of it ability to create soft brush strokes which I can then go over with another layer, but also reduce with a simple stroke in Clear mode.

Rage-y Stretch 3
I retooled the anatomy on his arms as well as did quite a few versions of his hands, to ready him for Instagram.

Blackwalk 2
Well, he's blue for now, but just tooling the pose so it looks natural. Next step is to actually clothe him in detailed articles of clothing versus just the shapes.

Retro 50s
I really am not as up on my fashion illustration proportions anymore, exp. digitally. I always need to adjust. Once upon a time, I would elongate the proportions perfectly in one step, or so I recall.

Duckie Shirt
Menswear brand Duckie Brown has been putting out designs on the DL, and I fell in love with this ruched neck big white shirt they posted on IG just yesterday, I don't know if I can buy it but I'm at least owning it by drawing it (although i could still end up buying it)

Rocker Type 2
I changed up the hair which is getting a bit tropey nowadays. and I do like the feel of this brushed up 'do. And I added the au courant pearls for men.

Rocker Type
There's always a rocker type model in the mix of each generation of models, the bad boy type that ascends among whatever flavor male becomes the prevailing look. Henry Kitcher is that guy for me right now, and while I didn't copy any photos of his directly, I kept his features in mind when I drew this face from my imagination. Although I definitely distilled his look down into a more general amalgam of people with big eyes and more pointed features... This was a quick study and I know there are features askew in this drawing that I have to address, but I'm treading lightly, since efforts at making the features more symmetrical have diluted the feel of the look, so I'm constantly reverting it back and forth.

Menswear Tableau
A photographer's feed on IG inspired this layout, which is something I've attempted to do (multiples0 but never really finished. I suppose I balk at the prospect of doing each guy to perfection, when I often take days to weeks just on one figure. Hopefully this inspiration doesn't just die as a study.

Inspired by Puño
I clicked on a random ad in Facebook touting to teach you how to draw, because I liked the image it showed. I was inspired by the retro modern simplicity and thought I'd try my hand at it, even if it's really already something I've delved into before ("delve" seems to be my favorite word lately) and frankly this guy isn't my best effort but I do like his chin, lol.

Color Study 2
I discovered the work of artist Ryan Hewett on Instagram, and his work gave me Francis Bacon and Marshall Arisman vibes, which inspired me to delve further into my wet gouache techniques again. I love the chuny impasto applications of paint he pairs with high tech sleek hard lines.

Black Walk
I was thinking that the next thing I would post on my Instagram would be an image of a guy all in black, walking. Literally "black, walk" and I have been working on it for a bit, trying to get the image I had in my head right. I later found more than a few exact photo references but I'm only using them to tweak, not retooling the original drawing to just copy those.

Leonard Whiting's 70s 'Do
I was enamored of actor Leonard Whiting's hairdo from around the time he was the next big Thing that never happened, which is how I found references to him, via some clickbait vid about One Hit Wonders, Actors edition.

Show of Hands
I'd been meaning to do a hand drawing for a while, mostly because I like hands but lately because I'm tired of drawing and posting nothing but naked men on my Instagram page. I drew this yesterday but have such a backlog of drawings to post I've earmarked it for today...which is different from usual in the sense that I often make drawings to make up for previous days! Anyhow, these are my hands from when I tend to stretch in my seat at my desk.

de Poot
I was inspired by model Elias de Poot's grim stare in a new editorial feature from Matches Fashion so I started drawing an image I saw in my head inspired by him and the story. I channeled his face by looking at his features but not actually copy them directly (as in, I'd study them, then shut the reference off and draw from memory). I'm loving the raw, inky effects of this Ruffin brush in this particular drawing so far.

Handsome Bruiser 2
Tried to flesh him out a bit more and his nose took on more size and he reminded me of a sailor/stevedore, so I'm thinking of pushing him that way. He actually reminds me of a friend and former model of mine now, Bobby Burns. Couldn't decide how to finish it so I'm putting both options I'm playing with here in this gif.

Handsome Bruiser
I think the nose this guy ended up with is skewing him into a more manly, sort of Italian-looking guy. He looks a bit sheepish.

Mature Flasher
Back to the Ruffin Brush, and I while I just drew a guy naked in a trench coat, I thought of giving him a pencil mustache and he turned into some cheesy mature flasher in a coat. I dunno, I kinda like how unsexy he is, yet he's kinda sexy too, no?

Color Study
Fashion Week is underway in Europe and this based off of a series of colors I saw in the digital photos one atelier released.

Blue Polo
Took a break from the Ruffin brush and am using the charcoal brush. No other qualifiers on its name, just the Charcoal Brush. But it has such a smooth handling that this drawing just came together so quickly. Quite happy with it too.

Tom G
Did a live sketch session with a model I'd been chatting with on Instagram. Wasn't happy with teh video quality and I think the drawings suffered. Ah well, you win some, you lose some.
Twinky Nekkid Pair
I did these college-type guys partly as a challenge, since I tend to draw older guys. And keeping up with the yellow accent color of the past few drawings in this Nekkid series

Twinky Too
I love this face, it's one of those really serendipitous drawings that I did without prompting and having it turn out as good as I'd want. Now I just need to make sure his body matches his attitude.

Spread Out 2
Testing out different faces. Not certain how to go with this one—the easiest would be to do my typical face, but this body is too big for my typical guy, so I was going for a more conservative looking white man. But that's kinda not sitting well with me either Ah well, figure it out later...
